About Our School
Welcome to Monroe Elementary School!
Welcome to Monroe Elementary School, where our rich history and strong traditions are paired with high-quality instructional practices to ensure every child is known, supported, and challenged. We are proud to serve approximately 400 students from preschool through fifth grade. We are also home to the district’s Early Childhood Intervention Center, where children with identified learning differences learn alongside neighborhood peers in inclusive classrooms. Our whole school is a caring, inclusive community where children grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
At Monroe Elementary, our vision is to foster a lifelong love of learning while helping every child learn, grow, belong and thrive. We believe that every child can grow and deserves what they need to be successful. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming environment where students feel a sense of belonging and are encouraged to take risks, persevere through challenges, and celebrate growth. Guided by our school motto, “Work Hard and Be Kind”, we teach students not only the importance of academic excellence, but also the value of empathy and compassion.
Our dedicated staff believes that strong relationships are the foundation of meaningful learning. We are one team with a shared purpose of maximizing student learning. We recognize that every child brings unique strengths, interests, and needs to school each day. We use data, research-based practices, and students’ strengths and progress to guide our decisions, creating learning experiences that meet students where they are while challenging them to move forward. At Monroe Elementary, everything we do is guided by a simple question: Is this in the best interest of students? That commitment keeps students at the center of everything we do.
We know that student success is strongest when schools and families work in partnership. We value open communication, collaboration, and the shared responsibility of supporting every child’s learning and well-being. Our active Parent Teacher Organization helps strengthen the connection between school and home by providing meaningful opportunities for families to become involved in our school community.
