Monroe Elementary School’s Kindergarten students were in for a special treat when Paul Koorse, IT Director for Monroe School Systems, made a visit with his feathery friend, a real-life pigeon named Pigeon. The visit wasn’t just a tech update—Mr. Koorse was there to read a beloved children's book, The Pigeon Needs a Bath by Mo Willems.

As Mr. Koorse read the amusing story, Pigeon sat in his “Mobile Pigeon Cart”, much to the delight of the wide-eyed students. The book, which tells the tale of a pigeon using every excuse to avoid a bath, came to life in a whole new way with the presence of a real pigeon in the room. The children hung on every word, giggling as Pigeon cooed in the background, as if in approval of the fictional pigeon’s misadventures in the story.
