What Did You Learn Today? - January 2018

As parents, we want to know what our children are doing at school each day. We also want to know how we can support our children at home by following up on what they are learning at school. When children arrive home or later at the dinner table, many parents ask , "What did you learn today at school?" Many children respond with, "I don't know," or "Nothing," or maybe even just a shrug. Experts suggest asking more specific questions about your child's day. That's not always easy since you don't go to school with your child!

The Kindergarten/Grade 1 Literacy and Math Night was created to help parents. This night is an opportunity for you to experience typical activities your child participates in, right alongside them! Teachers have prepared activities to allow your child to show you what they are learning in reading, writing and math. It is a wonderful opportunity for your child to "show off" all of the great work they are doing at school! In addition, teachers will share helpful hints for parents, ideas you will be able to use at home when supporting your child's learning. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions.

We hope many of you will be able to join us in this unique opportunity to come to school with your child!
