Happy new year! A new year typically means a fresh start to set some goals for the upcoming year. We mostly focus on the important one - health. We usually strive to be healthier in the new year. What are your goals for ‘healthy’ reading? Maybe yours might be to start that new book, or finish a book, or read a different genre, or increase the amount of reading you do. Let’s help kids set new healthy reading goals for themselves.
Encourage your child to:
-
Find a book that interests them. Motivation is key!
-
Go to the library to find a new book.
-
Try reading a book by a new author.
-
Try a different genre. Change is good!
-
Read in any format : book, magazines, newspapers, audio book, etc.
-
Set a daily or weekly goal to read for a certain amount of time.
-
Make reading a daily habit! Perhaps spend some time together reading.
-
Have fun!
Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy new year!
