Happy New Year - January 2018

Happy New Year

Happy new year! A new year typically means a fresh start to set some goals for the upcoming year. We mostly focus on the important one - health. We usually strive to be healthier in the new year. What are your goals for ‘healthy’ reading? Maybe yours might be to start that new book, or finish a book, or read a different genre, or increase the amount of reading you do. Let’s help kids set new healthy reading goals for themselves.

Encourage your child to:

  • Find a book that interests them. Motivation is key!

  • Go to the library to find a new book.

  • Try reading a book by a new author.

  • Try a different genre. Change is good!

  • Read in any format : book, magazines, newspapers, audio book, etc.

  • Set a daily or weekly goal to read for a certain amount of time.

  • Make reading a daily habit! Perhaps spend some time together reading.

  • Have fun!

Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy new year!
