We are thrilled to share the wonderful highlights from our recent "One School, One Book" celebration, which took place on November 15, 2024. This special event brought together students from grades K-5 to enjoy the shared experience of reading and learning. Our 3-5 students took on the role of reading mentors by reading the beloved book “Piglet Comes Home” to their younger buddies in grades K-2. This heartwarming story of friendship and overcoming obstacles served as a catalyst for an afternoon full of engaging activities and community building.
To complement the story, students participated in hands-on activities designed to stimulate their senses and creativity. Students used their sense of touch to feel and guess the mystery objects hidden in bags, encouraging sensory learning and curiosity. After the reading session, students wrote about the important lessons they learned from the book, fostering critical thinking and empathy.
Adding to the fun, all students were invited to wear their coziest pajamas to school. This created a relaxed and joyful atmosphere, making the day even more memorable. The "One School, One Book" celebration not only promoted literacy and collaboration but also strengthened the bonds within our school community. We are proud of our students' enthusiasm and engagement, and we thank our dedicated reading and library staff for all the hard work they put into planning the event. We look forward to many more events that encourage reading and bring our school community together.
